Voluntary Assisted Dying

Warrigal's Statement

Warrigal is an organisation whose purpose is for Older people to live their best lives on their terms. At Warrigal, residents are supported to make informed decisions and understand their medical treatment options when it comes to accessing all available healthcare choices under the law. These choices, under NSW legislation extend to voluntary assisted dying which became available to residents in NSW in November 2023.

In line with our values, residents who meet the criteria and choose to follow the thorough process to make this decision will be treated with the same dignity, respect and compassion afforded to all our residents on their end-of-life journey.

Person-centered care is at the heart of our philosophy at Warrigal. We value inclusion, compassion and respect for our residents and their choices. Our approach aims to empower them to exercise self-determination and autonomous decision making in the delivery of their care, including palliative and end-of-life care.
