Warrigal has, just this week, been recognised as one of the best workplaces in Australia for gender equality and has received the much coveted citation for ‘Employer of Choice’ by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).
Warrigal has a proud history of gender equality and is committed to upholding a whole organisation approach to supporting women and men’s equal participation at all levels in its workplace, and has a whole host of strategies in place to achieve this award including harnessing strengths from diverse backgrounds and experiences of staff which assists Warrigal to bring more diversity through their services.
Other policies, strategies and initiatives that have been implemented and adopted by Warrigal include flexible work arrangements (such as Work/Life balance), breastfeeding at work, Succession planning and talent identification.
CEO Mark Sewell has welcomed Warrigal’s citation and is hopeful that it will assist the not-for-profit organisation in boosting the aged care workforce and address the shortage of aged care professionals. Tackling Australia’s ageing population and meeting the demand for aged care and support services, is at the forefront of Warrigal’s strategic initiatives in the coming years.
