Seniors Week

Seniors Week is being celebrated across Australia from 15-23 March 2014. The theme for Seniors Week this year is Live Life.

Many of the activities being conducted throughout the week support the theme by encouraging seniors to

• Be fit and healthy
• Engage with their community
• Try a new activity
• Celebrate life.

The theme of Live life fits well with Warrigal’s philosophy of providing older people with the opportunity to be themselves and to be

• Independent
• Respected
• Happy
• Connected.

There are various activities happening at Warrigal during the week. Some of these activities include;

• A group of residents from Warrigal Community Village will attend the Premiers Concert at Qantas Arena (previously Entertainment Centre).

The 1970’s themed concert is free to Seniors during Senior’s Week. John Ajaka, Minister for Ageing recently announced that international superstar, Leo Sayer would be the headline act, with some of the hits including When I Need You, More Than I Can Say and You Make Me Feel Like Dancing being played to support the theme of Seniors Week.

The concert will be hosted by Australian music legend, Rhonda Birchmore and more than 50,000 seniors will attend the concerts. Minister Ajaka said “the seventies was a magical time for music and I’m sure the audience will have some wonderful memories flood back.”
