New Partnership to Benefit Shell Cove Residents

Dr Russell Pearson will join the dedicated team of Warrigal Care company members, helping to improve the healthy living of Shellharbour’s older residents.

Dr Pearson has incredibly strong ties to the Shellharbour community, having been a palliative care consulting GP at Karinya-David Berry Hospital for over 25 years, a founding Academic of the University of Wollongong’s Graduate School of Medicine, and now a Consultant GP at Shell Cove Family Care. In all of his roles, Dr Pearson has held genuine interest and empathy for the health of older people.

“At the University I had the opportunity to reflect upon the role of interdisciplinary team work, the barriers, encourages and challenges for medical care provision to aged care. For older Australians the future is particularly challenging. there is going to be increasing demand for services with the first Baby Boomers now turning 65 and medical care is increasingly expensive.”, says Dr Pearson.

Warrigal Care is delighted to welcome Dr Pearson to the family, with his expertise and enthusiasm sure to boost the already high calibre of the leadership team. His strong community grounding and dedication to improving the lives of older people are undoubtedly going to help steer Warrigal Care as it expands its service offering within the Shellharbour region.

Dr Pearson believes that Warrigal Care is well placed to best service our ageing population by asking the right questions, through research, and then delivering the findings by its innovative service provision.

“I hope to realise the opportunity to contribute ideas and share the vision of better aged care for the future: preserving dignity, respect with kindness, competence and humour! I am impressed by Warrigal Care's team, their research expertise, commitment and the helpfulness of everyone at all of their village communities.”
